Misc Sites

Here are some interesting sites which you can draw inspiration from for characters and adventures. Mostly just putting these online so that I don't have to store the bookmarks in multiple places.

Of course, the featured links in the left column are the first line of useful sites, as are the news sites in the right column.

High use sites

Here are some of the most useful sites that I frequent for information:

  • crystalkeep.com (external link) - These guys blur the line of what is SRD and what is copyrighted, but it does a pretty good job of providing a wide and shallow reference to many D&D books.
  • d20srd.org (external link) - The most useful SRD site, also has a great encounter calculator
  • dlnexus.com (external link) - The official fan site of Dragonlance, good articles and regular updates
  • forgottenrealms.wikia.com (external link) - A pretty good wiki for the Realms, not as useful as it could be, but I expect it to be much better in the near future.
  • forums.gleemax.com (external link) - When in doubt, the Wizards forums are a great place to find information or ask questions
  • fraternityofshadows.com (external link) - A terrific Ravenloft fan site, has good information and adventures
  • kargatane.com (external link) - While no longer active, the Kargatane generated some very professional netbooks for Ravenloft which provide very good stores, adventures, and content
  • rpgarchive.com (external link) - The YouTube? of RPGs, one of the most extensive free adventure archives online
  • roleplayingtips.com (external link) - A quirky site, but contains some gems of insight into roleplaying
  • starwars.wikia.com (external link) - The Wookieepedia is a fantastic source of Star Wars information.

Secondary sites

  • grey-company.org (external link) - All about elves, with good information about the Seldarine, gallery, and the elven language.
  • aquerra.wikispaces.com (external link) - A very detailed homebrew campaign setting. Good details and ideas for your own world.
  • lotrplaza.com (external link) - Good site for Tolkien's Black Speech. Other areas of the site have pretty good LotR information.
  • candlekeep.com (external link) - Great Forgotten Realms source. There is a good library, campaign journals, and gallery. The forums are a great place to look for obscure realms info, even posts from Ed Greenwood himself!
  • lugburz.com (external link) - Another Tolkien Black Speech site, has a pretty good two-way dictionary.
  • d20.jonnydigital.com (external link) - Jonathan Drain's blog, provides good tips, tricks, and inside information about D&D and the industry.
  • stormloader.com (external link) - A good Cthulhu reference site. Has many open content books like the necronomicon and various grimlores.
  • miskatonic.net (external link) - A Cthulhu fan site with some interesting information. I liked the Pickman Art Institute's page for creating your own Mythos tome or grimlore.
  • virmin.com (external link) - A quick and dirty Star Wars Saga Edition NPC generator. It makes really poorly designed NPCs, but its random generation and lack of min-max can be very useful especially for non-force wielders.
  • apocprod.com (external link) - Another grimlore prop site, includes everything you need to make your own tome of evil.
  • dimfuture.net (external link) - Likely the best Star Wars name generator I've seen. It provides good, genre-fitting names without the random generated madness that you usually see.
  • wizkidsgames.com (external link) - The Shadowland BBS on the Wizkids site is pretty for getting the flavor of Shadowrun and decking. Fun to look around site.
  • msen.com (external link) - A wealth by level table, harder to find online than it should be.
  • saga-edition.com (external link) - A conversion site from revised to saga edition. Has many updates for reuse of revised edition material in saga edition.
